We Are All Lady Gaga & Katy Perry Holding Hands To Console Each Other On Election Night
Lady Gaga and Katy Perry were among the dozens of major pop stars who voiced support for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 campaign. Turns out nobody cared, because the sexist orange man still won. The two singers were in attendance at New York City’s Javits Center on election night (November 8) for what was supposed to be the Clinton victory party, when photographer Derek Blasberg captured a shot of the two of them holding hands and consoling each other as the results came in.
“Took this picture of @katyperry and @ladygaga last night at the Javits Center, where everyone had come to celebrate our first female president,” he captioned it. “It was taken when Pennsylvania’s ballots were counted, and it felt officially over.”
I took this picture of @katyperry and @ladygaga last night at the Javits Center, where everyone had come to celebrate our first female president. It was taken when Pennsylvania’s ballots were counted, and it felt officially over. The room was sad but not shocked: The closer the race, the more divided the republic. Yet, we had hope. We still do. Here’s to praying we find answers in places we never expected them, and for not forgetting that it’s darkest just before the dawn.
In this election hellscape, we are all Katy Perry and Lady Gaga holding hands.
