Katy Perry Cancels Show In China Following 2016 Election Results
Katy Perry has pulled out of her forthcoming performance in China. The singer was scheduled to appear alongside OneRepublic and retired basketball player Kobe Bryant for tech company Alibaba’s Singles Day, a 24-hour shopping spree which celebrates the date, November 11.
“Regretfully, I must cancel my appearance … due to a family emergency,” Perry said in her official statement on Chinese social media platform Weibo. “I am very sorry to disappoint my fans and look forward to seeing you in China soon.”
This cancellation follows her mournful remarks regarding Donald Trump‘s shocking win in the 2016 Presidential Election. Perry, a fervent Hillary Clinton supporter, took to Twitter to express her disdain.
Gonna cry my false eye lashes off tonight. ❤️🙏🏼🇺🇸
