UK-born, Australian-raised singer/rapper/producer Jess Kent generated huge buzz with 2015 single, “Get Down.” The genre-bending anthem was a staple on Triple J, racked up 1.5 million+ streams on Spotify and was singled out by Coldplay on Twitter. It didn’t take long for the 22-year-old to land an international record deal and her debut EP, My Name Is Jess Kent, arrives on Friday (November 18) via Capitol Records. She’s promoting the release with a mini US tour including a support slot on Troye Sivan’s upcoming Terminal 5 shows in New York City.

The former busker is also rolling out a new single called “The Sweet Spot.” The summery track finds Jess rapping about the daily grind over reggae-influenced beats. “You know we all choose our sins in our own way, wait for the verdict, see you at the gate,” she spits. “Toy cars, straight lines, it’s the rat race sitting on trains.” That takes us to the mellow, but extremely catchy chorus: “It’s the sweet spot don’t knock it off, don’t wanna peak before you get to the top.” Listen below.
