Will Britney Spears & Tinashe’s “Slumber Party” Be The Video That Jumpstarts Both Careers?

Britney Spears, on the surface, hasn’t seem this alive or engaged in seven or eight years. And her video for the new version of “Slumber Party,” now with added Tinashe, might just be her best since 2004’s “Toxic.” Sadly, too much time in between may have been lost, as Glory, having slid off the Billboard 200 chart within two months of its release, hasn’t quite lived up to its title, commercially. Is “Slumber Party” arriving too late in the game? Let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet.

Music video aficionado Colin Tilley directs Spears here, and from the get-go it’s a classy, atmospheric epic as our heroine arrives at the gates of a mansion on a foggy night. Britney walks into a party that falls somewhere between modern day speakeasy throwdown and sexy Eyes Wide Shut soiree.

But wait — amidst all the masquerade shenanigans and dancing, lingerie-clad Brit winds up in a heavy-petting session with Tinashe on some vintage furniture.

For extra naughtiness, Spears crawls across a long dinner table and licks the glass in front of Seated Anonymous Party-Goer. Yes, it all sounds very passé on paper, but there’s one inescapable vibe shining through this whole thing: fun.

“Slumber Party” is indeed one of Glory‘s highlights. So before you go writing the album off just yet, let’s see what happens. Who knows — this might just be the single that jumpstarts both of these divas’ careers when all is said and done.
