Bruno Mars‘ released his third studio album 24K Magic today (November 18), and the singer stopped by 60 Minutes to talk a little bit about his childhood. In the clip, Mars took host Lara Logan to the house where he grew up in Hawaii’s Paradise Park. The “Treasure” crooner showed Logan around the now-abandoned property, recalling how he, his father and brother would all sleep in one bed. Even so, he also noted that this period of his life was “the best.”

“We had it all. We had each other and it never felt like it was the end of the world,” he said. “‘It’s alright we don’t got electric today. It’s alright, it’s temporary,’ saying, ‘Well, we going to figure this out.’”

Mars continued, “Maybe that’s why I have this mentality when it comes to the music. Because I know I’m going to figure it out, just give me some time.”
