The Weeknd Debuts Short Film (And ‘Starboy’ Preview) ‘Mania’: Watch
The Weeknd can’t ever just go out and have a good time.
In his new short film MANIA, directed by Grant Singer, he (credited as “THE ARTIST”) heads to the club and gets close with model Anais Mali (“THE WOMAN”). All appears to be going well, like in most R&B singers’ videos where the guy actually gets the girl.
But then “THE MAN” confronts him in the bathroom, wielding a pocket knife. Let’s just say that they don’t break out into dance, as the Weeknd’s personal idol Michael Jackson did in his “Beat It” video.
MANIA also previews Weeknd’s new album Starboy. Along with the Daft Punk-featuring “I Feel It Coming” and the Lana De Rey co-written “Party Monster,” MANIA also contains snippets of “All I Know” featuring Future, and “Sidewalks” featuring Kendrick Lamar.
Starboy is out this Friday, November 25. For now, watch MANIA below.
