Kelly Clarkson To Release New LP In June
Kelly Clarkson is putting the finishing touches on her soul-leaning eighth album.

After spending 14 years with RCA, Kelly Clarkson inked a new deal with Atlantic Records earlier this year and got straight to work. The inaugural American Idol winner’s 8th LP, which finds her dabbling in soul music, is due in June, 2017. She clarified the album’s direction over the weekend via Twitter and it seems like the real focus is ’90s R&B. “Listening 2 songs 4 my album we’re working on #mariah meets #aretha meets #whitney meets #mefromidoldays meets #2017 meets #yallaintready… meets #envogue,” the 34-year-old tweeted.

“It’s my favorite thing I’ve ever done,” Kelly said of the project in a recent interview with People magazine. “It’s the first time I got to pick my label, because I just got out of my Idol contract. I’ve been dying to make this record since Idol,” she said. “We’re still working on it, but we have a good batch of songs already and I can’t wait to sing them live. They’re amazing. After having a career for so long, it’s so weird that nobody knows [my sound] yet, so it’s going to be so good. It’s definitely a different chapter.”

It sounds like Kelly is ready to serve vocals and old school harmonies. I’m very ready! See her tweets below.
