On Monday (December 6), John Legend stopped by The Late Late Show with James Corden to perform his latest soaring anthem “Love Me Now.” And needless to say, it was a moving performance. Amid warm stage lights, he poignantly sang the number with the help of two back-up singers and a band.

The singer also spoke to show host James Corden about his latest album Darkness And Light and his wife Chrissy Teigen‘s involvement in the song-writing process.

“She hears them, and if she doesn’t like any lyrics, she’ll tell me,” he said. “It’s not because she’s like ‘Oh, I don’t like the you depicted me.’ It’s more like ‘Oh that’s not a good lyric’… She told me that for a couple of things, and I changed them.”

Then, when Corden asked who wears “the trousers” in the relationship, Legend replies, “I wear the trousers, but I know when to listen.”

Good answer.
