Is this a sign of things to come?

Adele was not physically at the BBC Music Awards ceremony, held at London’s ExCeL London venue, but that didn’t stop her from winning Album Of The Year (for sales juggernaut 25) and Song Of The Year (for global smash “Hello”).

“I’m so sorry I’m not there,” she said in a message from Los Angeles. “It’s been a long year on the road and this makes me feel a little less homesick.”

Likewise, while Coldplay were on the road, frontman Chris Martin sent a message from Australia upon the band winning Artist Of The Year.

This is the one awards show that, thankfully, doesn’t drag on all night. Below, catch the short but sweet list of winners.

ARTIST OF THE YEAR: Coldplay
ALBUM OF THE YEAR: Adele, 25
SONG OF THE YEAR: Adele, “Hello”
RADIO 1 LIVE LOUNGE PERFORMANCE: The 1975, “What Makes You Beautiful”
BBC INTRODUCING AWARD: Izzy Bizu
