Beyoncé Was The Most Googled Artist Of 2016

Beyoncé was the most searched artist on Google this year, and “Formation” was the top song on the search engine as well, beating out Prince‘s “Purple Rain,” according to Billboard. This is where you would quote her “Formation” lyric about causing all this conversation. But the real question is, how many of those Beyoncé searches were just from content typers like me who needed to copy the “é” because they’re too lazy to memorize how to do it? I do this at least twice a day for this job.

Pretty surprisingly, Céline Dion was the second most popular artist search. Kesha, Kehlani and Coldplay rounded out the top five. Teyana Taylor skyrocketed up to six thanks to her starring role in Kanye West‘s racy “Fade” video, and West himself dropped to eighth. America’s Got Talent winner Grace VanderWaal, who had one of the best EPs of the year, was at seven, Jacob Sartorius landed ninth and Guns N’ Roses were in the 10 spot.
