TIME may have called out Justin Timberlake‘s “Can’t Stop The Feeling” as the worst song released in 2016 — branding it no less than an “insipid earworm,” and begging, “please stop this song,” in the process — but the receipts don’t lie: JT’s Trolls hit is officially the best-selling single of the year. (We were a bit more forgiving around these parts; it was included on Idolator’s 20 Best Songs Of 2016 roundup…albeit at #20.)

Per Forbes and Nielsen SoundScan, “Can’t Stop The Feeling” sold 2.4 million downloads total in 2016, and it was streamed nearly 700 million times. The song initially debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 upon its release in the spring, thus becoming Timberlake’s first chart-topper in nine years.

That’s a big drop from last year’s best seller, “Uptown Funk,” which rang up roughly 5.4 million paid downloads — something that speaks to the rise of streaming versus traditional music sales.

Still, the success of “Can’t Stop The Feeling” could very well extend into 2017, as the tune was nominated for both a Grammy and a Golden Globe award in recent weeks.

Sorry ’bout it, haters.
