Watch Chris Martin Cover “Hotline Bling”

Coldplay‘s Chris Martin played a surprise benefit concert at New York’s tiny Mercury Lounge last night (December 21). And while you might expect some surprise guests at that sort of thing, he stayed solo for the show, save for a little help from some Bowery Mission musicians — but he did cover other acts.

Martin performed a few Coldplay hits like “Fix You,” “Yellow” and “A Sky Full Of Stars,” but the bulk of the set was covers. He took on the Beatles’ “Yesterday,” Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” Prince‘s “Purple Rain,” David Bowie‘s “Life On Mars?” plus “White Christmas,” but the one everyone will be sharing today will be his piano cover of Drake‘s “Hotline Bling.”

The show benefited the Bowery Mission. Watch fan footage of some of the songs below.
