The cause of George Michael‘s death remains a mystery. An autopsy of the beloved pop star’s body proved “inconclusive,” UK police say.

Further tests, including for toxicology, will have to be conducted to see what happened — and those results won’t be known for at least a few more weeks.

This development comes after manager Michael Lippman told the UK-based Press Association that he believed George died of heart failure.

George, who launched an ’80s pop revival as one half of duo Wham! and with his landmark solo career, died peacefully on Christmas Eve. His partner, Fadi Fawaz, said he found him dead in bed alone.
