Beyonce and The 1975 had the intuition to release their albums in 2016 then get the feck out of the way before a real pop happening goes down: the (second) Steps reunion.

Iconic British quintet Steps, composed of Claire Richards, Faye Tozer, Lisa Scott-Lee, Ian “H” Watkins and Lee Latchford-Evans, amassed no less than 13 Top 5 singles on the UK chart in the late 1990s and early ’00s — including “One For Sorrow,” a chart-topping cover of the Bee Gees‘ “Tragedy,” “Deeper Shade Of Blue” and Chic/Nile Rodgers homage “Stomp” — before splitting the day after Christmas in 2001. They reunited once before, in 2011, to take part in a reality show, tour their home country and eventually release holiday album Light Up The World.

Cut to this past weekend, when, on New Year’s Eve, Brit Award winners Steps got back together for a performance at London club G-A-Y. Multiple reports have it that the band have been working on new, “mature” music for an upcoming pop album and tour.

We’re not sure if the words “mature” and “Steps” go hand-in-hand, exactly, but stay tuned.
