Avril Wants Us To Stop Bullying Nickelback
Avril Lavigne won't tolerate jabs at Nickelback, from anyone including Mark Zuckerberg.

Avril Lavigne gets an unnecessary amount of grief from the media for staying true to her pop/rock sound and supporting Nickelback. Everyone seems to overlook the fact that the Canadian released four great albums in a row (AL5 wasn’t that bad either) and was as important to ’00s pop culture as Britney Spears and Beyonce. As such, I’m always excited to hear new music from the 32-year-old and she comes through with a surprisingly great collaboration with Japanese rockers ONE OK ROCK called “Listen.”

“It feels so hard to watch you hurt from that pain a lesson learned, this is how you find your way,” Avril sings on the catchy (but still suitably emo) pop/rock anthem. “I’ve got so much love for you my friend, ride or die until the end, but only you can save yourself. You just have to listen.” The track can be found on ONE OK ROCK’s new LP, Ambitions, which drops on Friday (January 13). As for the “Complicated” hitmaker’s comeback? Well, happily it seems to be back on track after a bout of ill health.

“I wanted to first thank my fans for your patience & support during my time away throughout my battle with Lyme Disease over the past 2 years,” Avril captioned a New Year’s message on Instagram. “It hasn’t just been a hard battle but it’s also been enlightening and will reflect in my new music, artistry, life, and personally.” This is where it gets really good. “I’m really happy to announce that I am now working on new music and I will be releasing a new album in 2017. I can’t wait to open up and share my heart with you!” In the meantime, listen to “Listen” below.
