The Weeknd’s “Party Monster” Video Is Super Effed Up: Give It A Watch

If anyone doubts The Weeknd‘s ability to follow-up a melodic, somewhat upbeat hit single with a dark dirge that’s equally as big, just take a look at the one-two punch achieved with “Can’t Feel My Face” and “The Hills.”

This time around we’ve got “Party Monster” coming after the chart-topping success of the Daft Punk-featuring “Starboy.” In fact, the video for the former seems to pick up where the one for the latter left off, though it plays like an infinitely more drugged-up affair.

At first the BRTHR-directed spectacle feels like some California desert-set Quentin TarantinoRobert Rodriguez double-feature, with Abel zipping around in a red car similar to (though not exactly the same as) the one we saw him tearing off into the night in at the end of “Starboy.” The glowing pink cross is back, as is the black leopard.

Also along for the ride are super creepy, blood-spattered strippers who growl and eat cake like they’re ripping the flesh off a wounded animal…and that’s all before their faces start melting off.

Did you expect anything less from a video for a song co-written by The Weeknd and Lana Del Rey?

If super fucked-up shit is your bag, sit back and enjoy “Party Monster” above. Don’t miss that final cliffhanger, either.
