‘La La Land’ Soundtrack Was The Week’s Top Seller

With La La Land picking up seven awards at the Golden Globes the other weekend — including Best Original Song for “City Of Stars” — naturally the film’s soundtrack got quite a boost over the past week. In fact, it was the week’s best seller, having moved 42,000 units (almost the entire amount of which were traditional sales).

Despite that bump, La La Land still has to settle for the runner-up spot on this week’s Billboard 200, as The Weeknd‘s Starboy controls the chart for a third non-consecutive week. While Starboy sold only 14,000 copies this time around, streams helped give the album a total of 63,000 units — enough to ensure The Weeknd has at least another seven days on top.

What a funny world we’re living in.
