A mass shooting took place as the BPM Festival‘s 10-year anniversary event wrapped last night (January 15) in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, just south of Cancun. Four people were shot dead, three of whom were part of BPM’s security team, while 12 people were injured.

Police say that shots were fired outside the Blue Parrot nightclub during BPM’s official closing party. Rodolfo Del Angel, director of police in the state of Quintana Roo, says that there was “a disagreement between people inside” Blue Parrot, and the shooter opened fire after security guards approached them.

“We are overcome with grief over this senseless act of violence and we are cooperating fully with local law enforcement and government officials as they continue their investigation,” an official statement reads — see it in full below.
