Troye Sivan’s “Heaven” Video Displays Facets Of Gay Life And History: Watch

Troye Sivan‘s intent with the video for “Heaven” may be to provoke thought while promoting his music, but the timing of its premiere — the day before the US descends into possible Trump-ian madness — is cause for a mischievous eyebrow-raise. The ballad is off Sivan’s 2015 debut LP Blue Neighbourhood, and details the Aussie crooner’s personal inner conflict with religion and homosexuality.

Betty Who is a featured vocalist on “Heaven,” but she’s nowhere to be found in the video. Instead we see shots of Troye proudly embracing a bare-chested young gent interspersed with footage of various gay landmark events and protest.
