Solange Explains
Hear her deconstruct every element in "Cranes in the Sky" on the podcast Song Exploder.

Last night (January 19), Solange performed at the Peace Ball held at the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. After being introduced by Angela Davis, Solange was commanding as she performed off A Seat at the Table (“Weary,” “Cranes in the Sky,” “Mad,” “Don’t Touch My Hair”) for attendees, including Danny GloverEllen Page and Macklemore.

More importantly, along with fellow performer Esperanza Spalding,  Solange set the tone for Peace Ball perfectly. The point, said organizers Busboys and Poets, was to “celebrate the accomplishments and successes of the past 4 years,” like marriage equality And while non-partisan, the Peace Ball was held shortly after president-elect Donald Trump‘s inauguration concert as an “alternative celebration.”
