Don’t Be A Hater, Nickelback’s “Feed The Machine” Might Be Good!

When it comes to Nickelback, I stand with Avril Lavigne! Sure, the Canadian rockers have released a couple of stinkers (which act that started in the ’90s hasn’t?), but they get way more grief than they deserve. Let’s not pretend that “How You Remind Me” isn’t the greatest karaoke song of all time or ignore the fact that “Photograph” and “Far Away” are untouchable rock ballads. Ok, now that I’ve got that off my chest, let’s get to the issue at hand. Chad Kroeger and friends are releasing a new single on February 1 called “Feed The Machine.”

It’s the first taste of the band’s 9th album and sounds a little harder than their recent efforts — at least, if the snippet below is any indication. (It might be a different song entirely). The cover is a little scary in an ’80s metal band kind of way, which might be another indication that the guys are veering into darker territory. Love them or hate them, Nickelback is one of the most successful acts of the 21st century with more than 23 million albums sold in America alone. Needless to say, expectations will be high for their latest.
