Mariah Carey Teases New Breakup Anthem: Hear A Snippet
Mariah Carey could be releasing a new song at any moment now.
A TV segment from last night (January 27) showed Mariah Carey at the studio, recording an uptempo breakup anthem that interpolates Donell Jones‘ seminal 1999 R&B ballad “Where I Wanna Be.” “‘Cause when you love someone, you just don’t treat them bad,” Mariah sings, before she removes what appears to be her engagement ring (!) and places it on the music stand in front of her.
Mariah’s love life has been tumultuous lately. Late last year she ended her engagement with Australian billionaire James Packer, only to tease out a relationship with choreographer Bryan Tanaka on the season finale of her E! reality show Mariah’s World. “Sometimes maybe people aren’t supposed to be happy,” Mariah said. “They’re just supposed to, like, exist.”
Fans figure that this new song must be her collaboration with YG, which is reportedly being released this weekend. Watch the preview below.
