Tove Lo Poses Topless For ‘Time Out,’ Talks Sex & Censorship

Tove Lo's NSFW "Fairy Dust" Video
Tove Lo's 30-minute "Fairy Dust" video is pitch black and very, very confronting.

Tove Lo is pop’s boldest bad ass as she proves for the umpteenth time with a topless shoot for Time Out. (Well, not quite topless — the Swede rocks a star-shaped pastie). The pics are actually less confronting than the cover story, which casually mentions a coke problem and sheds some light on her NSFW “Fairy Dust” visual. In particular, that very real masturbation scene. “I was the least nervous,” she confides. “I wouldn’t have done it if I wasn’t sure I could… they filmed all the way through.”

Not that sex or nudity bothers the Cool Girl. In fact, Tove is known for flashing her boobs at concerts and has a tattoo of a vagina on her arm. “The crowds flash me back — guys and girls,” she explains. “I shouldn’t need to apologize. Because I’m a woman, I have to. There’s so much more to me than the vagina stuff.” And the hitmaker isn’t about to change any time soon. “I do think about [censorship],” Tove admits. “So many pop stars say, ‘I wanna do this, but my brand won’t allow me.’ I’ve never felt that.”

The 29-year-old is just as forthcoming with her political views. “I don’t know how much I can do,” she says in reference to the 2016 presidential election. “I’m not even an American citizen. But if I at least express my opinion, it could make people think, ‘Huh!’ That’s the thing with pop. If you try to appeal to as many people as possible, you’re supposed to stay away from sex and politics and be this floating ‘I’m for everyone’ person, but that won’t change anything.” Read the full interview here.
