Katy Perry Is In Talks To Perform At The BRIT Awards
Katy Perry could drop a new single any day now if rumors of her performing at the BRIT Awards on February 22 turn out to be true. “[She] is looking likely to be this year’s blockbuster act,” a source tells The Sun. “The ceremony needs a big US name and organizers are deep in negotiations with her team to get it over the line.” However, it’s not locked in. “The deal is not signed and sealed yet but everyone wants the same outcome.” UK tabloids are notoriously unreliable, but all signs point to the 32-year-old dropping new music this quarter.
The “Rise” hitmaker has been prepping fans with snippets of new music, progress reports and references to a lead single and video. Katy also had a brief bout of leaky laptop syndrome (a demo called “Witness” has been doing the rounds since June), which is another sign that something’s coming. As for the direction? “I’m working with a lot of unexpected writers and producers and … that’s bringing out a lot of different things sonically,” she told InStyle in September. I can’t wait to hear what she comes up with.
