Lady Gaga's Hit-Filled Super Bowl Show
We review Lady Gaga's hit-filled, acrobatic Super Bowl LI half-time show.

Lady Gaga’s half-time show at Super Bowl LI was watched by a whopping 111.3 million people. The audience spiked during Mother Monster’s performance, drawing an eye-watering 50.0 rating according to Nielsen. Those numbers are huge, but still not quite high enough to topple Katy Perry’s ratings record. (Her appearance at Super Bowl XLIX in 2015 drew 118.5 million viewers). In fact, it places Gaga equal fourth behind Katy, Bruno Mars and Coldplay. Somewhat ironically, she drew the same audience as Madonna.

Ratings aside, the performance was a lifeline for the Joanne era. The album is perched at number 1 on iTunes as is current single “Million Reasons.” (It should be noted that both are heavily discounted). It has also been a boon for her back catalogue. “Born This Way,” “Poker Face,” “Bad Romance,” and “Just Dance” are also top 10. Interestingly, “Edge Of Glory” is also top 20 despite the fact that Gaga only sang one line from the song. Don’t be surprised to see a flood of old hits return to the Billboard Hot 100 next week.
