Future Islands Remixed
Future Islands' "Seasons (Waiting On You)" gets remixed by kooky jazz trio.

My love for Future Islands runs deep. Singles was one of my favorite albums of 2014 and I still watch their star-making performance on Letterman at least once a week. (Try frowning while Samuel T. Herring serves dance moves, emotions and vocal acrobatics). Well, the Baltimore trio is back with a new single called “Run” and it’s another sublime synth-pop anthem. Produced by John Congleton (he’s also responsible for Nelly Furtado’s comeback), the band’s latest is the kind of earnest, chest-thumping love song that seemingly went extinct in the ’80s.

“Ran” is the first taste of Future Islands’ fifth LP, The Far Field (due April 7). The guys will support the song with a live performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday (February 9) and a slew of festival appearances including Coachella, Bonnaroo and Panorama. What else do I know about their new era? Only that the album was recorded at the legendary Sunset Sound and boasts a guest appearance from Debbie Harry on a track called “Shadows.” Get ready to feel feelings and press play below.
