Finally! Keith Urban Is Rolling Out “The Fighter” As His Next Single

I love Keith Urban, but I never considered him Idolator fodder until the arrival of Ripcord. The Aussie crooner’s 9th LP is the male equivalent of Taylor Swift’s Red. There are traditional country songs (the beautiful “Blue Ain’t Your Color”), pop anthems (“Your Body”) and quirky hybrids that blur genre lines. The best example of the latter is the hitmaker’s perky duet with Carrie Underwood, “The Fighter.” Sure, there’s a little country twang but this sugary sweet delight wouldn’t sound out of place on the High School Musical soundtrack.

The 49-year-old is now rolling out “The Fighter” as the album’s fifth single. It’s a no-brainer. The song oozes crossover potential and it already proved its commercial appeal by cracking the iTunes top 10 in 2016. (The duet went viral after Keith indulged in a little carpool karaoke with his wife, Nicole Kidman). It has also been a smash in Australia, becoming only his second top 20 hit at home. Get familiar with the duet below. There’s a fairly good chance of Keith and Carrie performing it at the Grammys and it’s absurdly catchy.
