Meghan Trainor switches it up with gritty, Beau Bridges-starring "Better" video.

Meghan Trainor’s run of six consecutive top 20 hits came to screeching halt with “Better.” The pop star tried to switch things up with a gritty video and rap feature, but radio wasn’t interested. Sadly, it looked like that might be the death knell for (underrated) sophomore LP, Thank You. But the eulogies might have come too soon. A Brazilian fan site has posted footage from what appears to be the set of Meghan’s “Dance Like Yo Daddy” video. With it’s perky throwback vibe, this is smart choice for people missing the Title era.

We should also be getting some new music very soon. The 23-year-old has contributed a song called “I’m A Lady” to the Smurfs: The Lost Village soundtrack (due early April). What can we expect from Meghan’s animated bop? “It’s an upbeat, love-yourself woman anthem,” she explained at the KIISFM Jingle Ball in December. “It goes..’Cause I’m a lady…and then the beat drops!” Her final analysis? “It’s pretty fire.” Until that arrives, take a minute to revisit “Dance Like Yo Daddy” below.
