Katy Perry's Bite-Sized Album Rollout
Katy Perry explains how her new album will be rolled out in a new radio interview.

Katy Perry took a swipe at Donald Trump and UK Prime Minister Theresa May in a politically-charged performance at today’s (February 22) Brit Awards. The woke-pop diva brought our skeleton marionettes of the conservative leaders during her rendition of “Chained To The Rhythm,” which ties in with the song’s (not so) subtle anti-establishment message. The 32-year-old was in fine vocal form and the staging was absolutely striking. She bounced around dancers dressed as little houses (there was a mini-demolition when one fell off stage), while Skip Marley powerfully strode down a staircase for his verse.

“Chained To The Rhythm” is shaping up to be a milestone in Katy’s career. She is shedding her image as the queen of kitsch and high-energy pop bangers by tackling important world issues. And the transformation has been surprisingly well received by fans. The Max Martin and Ali Payami-produced anthem debuted at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week (her 14th top 10) and is causing serious damage at pop radio. The subversive video also racked up more than 8 million views in its first day of release. See Katy’s points of reference, and that stage mishap, below.
