Meghan Trainor’s “I’m A Lady” Is A Cute Retro-Bop

Meghan Trainor bounces back with Smurfs single “I’m A Lady.” Produced by The Monsters and the Strangerz, the catchy bop is a return to the retro-pop of Title — albeit with the same verve and attitude that marked the Thank You era. “I don’t look like them (I ain’t worried about it), I don’t talk like them (I ain’t worried about it),” the pop star purrs over a percussion-heavy arrangement. “I know I’m a gem (I ain’t worried about it), I ain’t worried about it ’cause I’m a lady.” And that’s when the beat drops.

The cute bop has a positive message and a campy spoken interlude towards the end (“I’m pretty, pretty cute and I’m pretty smart, and when I break it down it’s a work of art”), so I’m on board. It will be interesting to see if “I’m A Lady” spells the end of the Thank You era. She was recently spotted filming a video for “Dance Like Yo Daddy,” but Megatrons tell me that it was probably for a commercial. Anyway, at least we have something new! Stream Meghan’s latest below.
