Today’s Wildest Rumor: Stargate Is Releasing A Single With Pink & Sia
It seems a little unlikely that production duo Stargate would launch an artist project in their mid-40s, but that’s the rumor currently doing the rounds online after a Sony Music Sweden listening announced a new single called “Waterfall” featuring Pink and Sia. It could be a total hoax (those divas are off cycle and the Norwegians have traditionally shied away from publicity), but I would theoretically be here for it. After all, Tor and Mikkel have produced some of the best pop songs of the new millennium.
In fact, if nothing else, this development is as good an opportunity as any to look back on Stargate’s incredible role in shaping the sound of popular music over the last decade and a half. The duo has racked up 10 number one hits including Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable,” Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” and Katy Perry’s “Firework” as well as 24 top 10 hits. They most recently visited the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 with Selena Gomez’s “Same Old Love.” Anyway, check out the mysterious listing here. We’ll know soon enough if it’s fake given the proposed March 10 release date.
