Jennifer Hudson Returns With Soaring Ballad “Remember Me”

The wait is over! Jennifer Hudson returns today (March 3) with a new single called “Remember Me.” Co-written with Jamie Hartman (the man behind Rag’N’Bone Man’s “Human”), the first taste of J Hud’s fourth LP is a soaring mid-tempo ballad that showcases her bone-rattling vocals. “I couldn’t give any more, ’cause it’s already yours,” the 35-year-old sings over simple piano. The tempo then picks up for the gospel-tinged chorus: “So do you remember me in those moments just before you sleep? I know you remember me, swear to me the memory isn’t sweet.”

It’s simultaneously explosive and understated, and easily the best voice of her voice since 2011’s “Where You At.” No wonder, Jennifer is excited about the song. “As an artist, when I discover music that I connect with deeply, it brings me a sense of excitement that I can’t put into words,” she explains. “That’s how I feel about ‘Remember Me.’ Everything about it is special — from co-writing it with Jamie, to the recording process, to how it made me feel along the way. I just can’t wait to share it with the world.”

“Remember Me” has a great shot at being heard with the full support of LA Reid behind it. “Jennifer Hudson is the defining voice of this generation,” he declared when signing the vocalist to Epic Records. “Her award-winning presence on records, in film, and on stage, establishes her as one of the premier artists to emerge in this century. I’m enjoying collaborating with my friend and mentor Clive Davis on Jennifer’s first Epic album.” She will perform the song for the first time on The Voice UK this weekend. Listen below.
