It’s Official! Steps Announce New LP, ‘Tears On The Dancefloor’
It’s official! Steps are reuniting to celebrate the 20th anniversary of debut single, “5,6,7,8.” The Y2K pop group will release a new album called Tears On The Dancefloor on April 21 and go a 15-date arena tour with The Vengaboys, no less. And the excitement doesn’t end there. Their comeback single, “Scared Of The Dark,” arrives on Friday (March 10) and is described as a hint of the past mixed with modern day music. The cover (below) certainly hints at a retro-pop anthem with the members posing around a giant disco ball.
As for the rest of the opus, all I know is that it includes a cover of Benny Andersson Band’s (two halves of ABBA) “Story Of A Heart.” Lisa Scott-Lee, who once made the B-List at Capital as a solo artist, explains why. “We’ve always had that comparison with Abba so it’s amazing to work with Benny and Bjorn,” she tells The Sun. “When we heard the special album track they gave to us we said, ‘that’s perfect’. It’s a bridge to where we were and it moves on nicely to where we’re taking the new music.” See the group’s various announcements below.
