Lorde Reveals The Cover Of 'Melodrama'
Lorde unveils the cover of sophomore LP, 'Melodrama' and new single "Green Light."

Lorde’s sophomore LP has an official release date! Melodrama arrives on June 16 and is available to pre-order now. Need an incentive? Each purchase comes with an instant download of a new ballad called “Liability.” I’m still not entirely sold on “Green Light,” but the Kiwi’s latest is something of a triumph. “Play at romance, we slow dance in the living room,” she mourns on the forever-alone anthem, “but all that a stranger would see is one girl swaying alone.” The track also examines the prickly nature of celebrity.

“The truth is I am a toy that people enjoy,” Lorde sings over a simple piano arrangement courtesy of Jack Antonoff. “Til all of the tricks don’t work anymore and then they are bored of me.” The 20-year-old spoke about the song in a Beats 1 interview, saying it captured “a moment of sadness” and motivated her to learn to enjoy her own company. “I’m always gonna have myself so I have to really nurture this relationship and feel good about hanging out with myself and loving myself,” she shared.
