On The Verge: 25 Artists To Watch In 2017
We've put together a list of 25 artists on the brink of very big things in 2017.

Avante Black, a four-piece pop collective fronted by Swede Ottilia Zimmerman Kjulsten, came out of nowhere to drop one of the best singles of 2016. An explosion of hazy synths and guitar licks, “Drug Money” sounded simultaneously retro and ahead of the curve. The psychedelic production was sweet relief from the down-tempo bangers polluting pop radio and the lyrics, which ooze malaise and complacency, struck a chord. It’s hardly surprising then, that the track is now being given another push with a suitably trippy video.

Directed by Alden Volney, the visual is a kaleidoscopic explosion of mirrored images and 3D animation. It’s a simple, well-executed concept that complements the song’s confused euphoria. Avante Black has still only released two songs (check out the equally great “Imaginary Love”), but the hype is slowly starting to build courtesy of the genius of “Drug Money” and credible, blog-friendly remixes. Watch the group’s dizzying visual up top and listen to Anna Of The North’s cool interpretation below.
