Ed Sheeran has had a big year, yes. But it’s official: Drake‘s year has been better.

Since its March 18 release, Drake’s More Life has broken two major Spotify records previously held by Ed’s Divide, Billboard reportsMore Life was streamed 61.3 million times during its first full day — a new best for the streaming service, beating Divide‘s 56.7 million. Drake also beat Ed for most streams for an artist in a single day, racking up 76.4 million compared to Ed’s 68.7 million.

Leading up to Divide‘s release, Ed predicted that 2017 would be his year, most of it anyway. “[E]veryone I was scared of releasing of albums around me released them all last year — people like Beyonce and The Weeknd and Bruno Mars,” he said to BBC News. “Taylor [Swift] isn’t going to be releasing until probably the end of this year — Christmas is the smartest time to release because that’s when everyone buys records. So I’ve got a full year of just all Ed, all the time.”

Yet as a few were happy to point out on social media, Ed shouldn’t have counted Drake out. Drake also set a new single-day record for Apple Music streams, with 89.9 million. See a particularly popular reaction to the news below.
