RuPaul's 'American'
Pop/drag icon RuPaul gets political with a new album that takes a hard stance.

As the surprise guest of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 9 premiere, Lady Gaga offered some sage advice: You better work. In efforts to prep contestants for the long road ahead, she led a singalong of creator RuPaul‘s iconic 1992 dance hit “Supermodel (You Better Work).” That’s right — Gaga, being the superfan she is, turned to the left and turned to the right before she sashayed, shantay.

Gaga’s long-awaited appearance — she has been campaigning since 2013 — was the perfect way to kick off this season. Initially she scared contestants with her slayage because of how she strolled in, without introduction, having them think that she might be a (killer) Gaga impersonator. And as RuPaul mentions, this is literally only the beginning: KeshaThe B-52sMeghan Trainor and Tamar Braxton are among this season’s guests.

Up top, watch Lady Gaga get Drag Race contestants hyped with “Supermodel.” See her entrance below.
