MØ Hits The Jackpot With “Nights With You”

has been on the verge of pop stardom since featuring on Major Lazer & DJ Snake’s all-conquering “Lean On,” landing a string of streaming hits with “Kamikaze,” “Final Song” and “Drum.” She could land a long-overdue commercial breakthrough with “Nights With You.” Produced by Sophie, Cashmere Cat & Benny Blanco, the Dane’s latest single is a love song with a sapphic twist. It not only offers a depressingly unique perspective (why aren’t more artists this open?), it has the kind of monster chorus that gnaws into your brain and refuses to leave.

“Girl, you’re gorgeous,” MØ sings in an early verse. “You know you might not always feel like it but you are.” She makes her move in the pre-chorus. “I’ll take you out tonight, throw away your phone,” the 28-year-old declares. “Don’t care about your boyfriend waking up alone.” That takes us to sexy pay-off: “I just wanna spend the nights with you, do it like your mother said not to do.” I don’t know (or care) where MØ fits on the sexuality spectrum, but this is refreshing and ruthlessly catchy.
