The Japanese House Returns With “Saw You In A Dream”
The Japanese House is one of the most buzzed-about artists of 2017. The 21-year-old Brit, who was nestled among the nominees on this year’s BBC Sound Of longlist and has a song on the 13 Reasons Why soundtrack, returns today (April 26) with a sad, sun-dappled track called “Saw You In A Dream.” After veering closer towards pop on her Swim Against The Tide EP, she retreats a little to the fuzzy, soft-hued sound of her earlier material. It’s heavy on whimsy, but Amber Bain’s (her real name) knack for melody shines through.
“Saw you in a dream, you came to me,” she sings on the bittersweet chorus. “You were the sweetest apparition, such a pretty vision. There was no reason, no explanation. The perfect hallucination.” Almost as an afterthought, the singer adds: “All good things come to an end but I thought that this might last.” “Saw You In A Dream” premiered earlier today on Beats 1’s World Record. It’s the first taste of The Japanese House’s fourth EP, which drops June 16. Delve into her dreamscape below.
