Katy Perry & Migos’ “Bon Appetit” Is A Tasty Treat
Hungry for new Katy Perry? Well, the wait is over! The pop star just dropped “Bon Appetit” as the follow-up to “Chained To The Rhythm” and it’s a sexy bop that draws heavily from ’90s house and hip-hop. “If you take your time, eat with your hands fine,” Katy purrs, before overdosing on double entendres on the chorus. “I’m on the menu, ’cause I’m all that you want boy. All that you can have boy, got me spread like a buffet. Bon appetit, baby!” That leads to an unusually tame, but song-appropriate verse from the Migos. On the first listen, this sounds like looming summer smash.
While fluffier and easier to digest (pun intended) than her last single, this is still a big risk for Katy. She’s a long way from the punchy pop of Prism and even further removed from the radio-ready anthems of Teenage Dream. Bold moves have paid off for her in the past, however. Take trap experiment “Dark Horse,” which topped the charts and eventually became a signature song.”Bon Appetit” is certainly catchy enough for lightning to strike twice and, as usual, the baked-goods queen has the visual element on lock. Just look at the hypnotic audio video below.
UPDATE: The credits just arrived! Katy co-wrote “Bon Appetit” with Max Martin, Shellback, Oscar Holter, Ferras and Migos.
