Ruby Rose, Noted Taylor Swift Friend, Slams Katy Perry’s “Swish Swish”
Isn’t Ruby Rose such a good friend? Yesterday (May 19), Katy Perry released “Swish Swish” featuring Nicki Minaj. And for those still wondering if the surprise Witness track is indeed a Taylor Swift diss, consider the actress-model pal‘s instant reaction.
“‘Purposeful poop’ to ‘bomb a petit’ to a sloppy mess of writing over the top of Funkagenda..stop trying to make ‘Wit..I mean ‘fetch’ happen,” Ruby said on Twitter. As if those mock song titles weren’t enough, Ruby also included a Mean Girls reference, calling back to how Katy once called Taylor “a Regina George in sheep’s clothing.”
“I just think with everything going on in the world to go from rebranding as political activist only to ditch it and go low.. is.. a bummer,” Ruby adds. “I’ve always stood up for the people I love and against things I think are cheap or mean spirited. That’s not new. You have to follow your ❤️.”
She does has a point: No matter how Katy tries to justify “Swish Swish” (it’s about “liberation from all the negative and the people that try and keep you down,” she says), her Witness era has been a bit scattered. But Ruby also conveniently “forgot” how Taylor’s “Bad Blood” was an action thriller-sized diss aimed at Katy herself.
