Celine's 'Beauty and the Beast' Ballad
Celine Dion's ''How Does A Moment Last Forever,'' for the 'Beauty and Beast' live remake, is understated and moving.

Last night’s Billboard Music Awards featured performances by millennial hitmakers, from Drake to Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus. But it was the pop veterans performing 20-year-old songs who stole the show. After performing “My Heart Will Go On,” Celine Dion caught Cher performing on the TVs backstage. Not only did she start dancing to “Believe,” but the press forgot they were working and joined her in a sing-along. It was a perfect, off-the-cuff moment where game recognized game.

Celine, of course, had her own show-stopping performance, standing beneath a mile-high chandelier that slowly rose to reveal her in all her glory. This live rendition of the Titanic track was so moving, Billboard Music Awards co-host Vanessa Hudgens teared up. Meanwhile, Cher performed greatest hits and received the Icon Award for her decades in music. “I’ve wanted to do what I do since I was 4 years old and I’ve been doing it for 53 years,” she said. “And this is not an applause thing, but I’m 71 yesterday.”
