Kylie Minogue Is Still Hard At Work On Her New Album
After taking a well-deserved break to celebrate her 49th birthday, Kylie Minogue is back in the studio working on album 14. “When you call the microwave a microphone,” she quipped on Twitter along with the hashtags #studio, #hours and #zone. There was even a microphone emoji, which always reminds me of her iconic Fever cover. And I don’t think that’s entire accidental given that the pop icon is striving to make “a great, big, classic Kylie pop record.” What better template than 2001’s game-changing opus? She has even reunited with songwriter Richard “Biff” Stannard (“Love At First Sight” and “In Your Eyes”).
Of course, Kylie signed a new record deal with BMG in February. “Thirty years she’s been in the business, and she’s better than ever before,” label boss Alexi Cory-Smith raved. “There’s so many different opportunities and with our reach into multi-media the possibility of making a documentary or book with her — it’s all possible. She’s just the ultimate artist.” As for the enduring diva? “It feels like it has been a while and I am signed with a new label with fantastic, fantastic fresh new energy,” she said of the project. “I know what I want to do — I know it’s the right partnership.” See her studio updates below.
