Miley Cyrus Returns With "Malibu"
Miley Cyrus returns with the cute, but clumsy "Malibu." Watch the dreamy video.

Miley Cyrus rolls out “Inspired” as the second single from her 6th studio album tonight (June 8). While “Malibu” had traces of country in its organic production, the 24-year-old’s new ballad wholly embraces the genre that made her father a superstar in the ’90s. “We are meant for more, pull the handle on the door that opens up to change,” she sings on the uplifting chorus over strummed guitar and violin strings. “I know that sounds so strange ’cause you’ve always felt so small, but know you aren’t at all and I hope you feel inspired.”

It’s a cute song about spreading positivity and effecting change — a timely message given the dumpster fire that is 2017. However, it doesn’t quite reach the soaring heights needed to be anthemic. Miley described it as a new, more mature version of “The Climb” on The Zach Sang Show and that sounds about right. It’s just not as compelling. Listen to “Inspired” below.
