The Killers Explore The Seedier Side Of Vegas In “The Man” Video

The Killers returned a couple of weeks ago with a new single called “The Man” and it’s one of their most adventurous to date. Built around a sample of Kool & The Gang’s “Spirit Of The Boogie” (there’s also a trace of David Bowie’s “Fame”), the first taste of Wonderful Wonderful is a throbbing, disco-tinged anthem full of bravado and big hooks. “I got gas in the tank, I got money in the bank,” Brandon Flowers brags. “I got news for you baby, you’re looking at The Man.” It’s the band’s catchiest release since 2008’s “Human.”

The video arrives today (June 28) and it explores the seedier side of Las Vegas. There are casinos and desert vistas, but this isn’t the way Sin City is usually presented on TV shows and in music videos. Brandon plays several different men (or maybe just a very busy one). He’s a lounge singer in a shabby bar, an amateur race-car driver, a low-life with a gun and an unlucky gambler. It’s evocative and somehow gives the song’s showy lyrics an even greater punch. Keep an eye out for The Killers’ 5th LP later this year and watch their new video below.
