Mariah Carey Is Basically A Saint
Patriot, Feminist Role Model & LGBTQ Icon. Mariah Carey is basically a saint.

Pop legend Mariah Carey has reportedly signed on to bring her life story to a TV screen near you. While the “We Belong Together” siren is gearing up to hit the road on the All The Hits Tour alongside fellow icon Lionel Richie, it has been revealed that she has also teamed up with Starz to executive produce a TV drama that tells the story of an aspiring bi-racial musician who becomes one of the world’s best-selling stars. The story is set in New York City in 1986 and will be written by Nina Colman with executive production from Carey and her manager Stella Bulochnikov.

If this sounds familiar it’s because the story closely mirrors Mariah’s own rise to fame with a string of chart-topping singles in the early ’90s. The artist grew up in New York and pursued a career in music while in high school before finally being signed by her future-husband Tommy Mottola at Columbia Records. Her meteoric rise to stardom took her to unprecedented heights and has spawned a career that has lasted more than 20 years. Hopefully, Starz will be able to replicate that success with the show.

Mimi’s TV event doesn’t have a title yet, but something tells me that the artist who named her last album Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse will manage to come up with something appropriate when the time comes. Earlier this year the elusive chanteuse offered a glimpse into her life with an 8-episode docu-series that was hosted on E!. This time around it is unclear if she’ll be making a cameo on screen, but she’ll undoubtedly bring a fresh perspective to the story.
