With multiple hits at radio, it's all coming together for songwriter Leland.

From Selena Gomez’s “Fetish” to Martin Garrix and Troye Sivan’s “There For You,” Leland is enjoying a break-out year as pop’s go-to songwriter. He has also decided to reboot his artist project and comes back swinging with a new single called “Mattress.” A bittersweet electro-pop anthem about unrequited love, the LA-based hitmaker taps into a fairly universal experience. “I see you look around, I know you making eyes and I can’t take it anymore,” Leland sings over gloomy synths. “I know what happens next I got it memorized tell me what you need another for?”

He finally lays his cards out in the instantly catchy chorus: “Why do I always do this to myself? I let you go with someone else when all I want is my body on your mattress.” It’s unclear if this is a stand-alone single or the first taste of a larger body of work. “I don’t know if I’m making an EP, I don’t know if I’m making an album,” Leland told me in April. “I know that I’m going to put out songs. I’m excited and I’m going to elevate the art. I’m not putting out a music video unless I fucking love it. I’m not putting out a song unless I fucking love it.”

Well, there’s a lot to fucking love about “Mattress.” Stream it below.
