Moonwoman! Katy Perry Is Hosting The 2017 VMAs
Katy Perry will host the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards. The pop star announced the news via an elaborate video, which finds her floating through the galaxy in a glamorous pink spacesuit. “I’ve been training with @MTV in zero gravity, eating astronaut ice cream, and I’m on a group text with Buzz Aldrin and Neil deGrasse Tyson,” she captioned the clip. “Come August 27th, I’ll be ready to be your MOONWOMAN! Brace for impact, kids.” It’s only fitting that there’s a female host to celebrate the elimination of gendered categories.
The “Swish Swish” hitmaker is also no stranger to holding an audience captive. Katy changed the promo landscape forever with her Witness World Wide livestream, which produced several viral moments and ran for 96 hours. A three hour hosting gig will be a breeze in comparison! Kendrick Lamar leads the pack this year with 8 nominations, while The Weekend and our intergalactic host have five each. Hopefully, this means that the pop diva will perform as well.
