At the turn of the millennium, a Latin craze took hold of pop radio and the Billboard Hot 100 as artists like Enrique Iglesias, Shakira, Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez and Ricky Martin racked up massive hits. They say history never repeats, but Spanish-language pop is suddenly red hot again after the worldwide success of Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito.” (Not to mention the increasing popularity of Maluma and Anitta). The next song to crossover in a major way is J Balvin’s “Mi Gente.”

The numbers speak for themselves. “Mi Gente,” which is actually a reworked version of Willy William’s “Voodoo Song,” is currently the second most-streamed song in the world. (“Despacito” is number one). The Colombian superstar’s ruthlessly catchy banger recently cracked the top 50 at pop radio and is closing in on the top 20 on iTunes. When you factor in the track’s viral video (200 million views in less than a month), it’s only a matter of time before this finds a much bigger audience. Check out the next Latin smash below.
