Fergie’s ‘Double Dutchess’ Will Be Available For Pre-Order At Last

After what may be one of the most convoluted album roll-outs to date, Fergie has officially announced that Double Dutchess will be available for pre-order before the month is out! Since 2014 the project has been plagued by a series of leaks and stalled buzz tracks; however, today (August 16) it was announced that it will up for order with major retailers on August 25. The official release date has yet to be confirmed, but it’s safe to assume that the California-bred siren will unveil that and the official track list shortly. A leaked list included collaborations with Nicki Minaj and Charlie Puth, but nothing has been officially confirmed.

Late last month the “Fergalicious” diva was hit by the worst leak yet, as a series of tracks in demo form spewed out for public consumption. Instead of announcing any efforts to silence the music or rush release the project (like Madonna did with Rebel Heart), Fergie began flooding her Instagram with a series of videos and photos to tease the release. It was an odd decision, but par for the course considering the confusion that has shrouded the followup to the album that spawned hits like “Big Girls Don’t Cry.”

Fergie’s been trying to get Double Dutchess off the ground for years now. In 2014 she released “L.A. Love (La La),” which was supposed to be the project’s lead single. After a respectable top 40 debut, the track was relegated to buzz track status, and the project seemingly sidelined until last year when the 42-year-old released two new tracks, “M.I.L.F. $” and “Life Goes On.” While the former managed to make some impact thanks to a viral video featuring Kim Kardashian, Ciara, and Chrissy Tiegen, the latter missed the charts entirely. Since then she’s left a contract with Interscope and launched a label through a partnership with BMG. Douchle Dutchess will be the first album released under the Dutchess Music imprint, and it will hopefully recapture some of the magic of her debut album 2006’s The Dutchess.
